Poland are the only team that is still unbeaten in Pool B, as on Sunday, Bulgaria lost 2-3 to Germany.
Magdalena Stysiak has been for sure the strongest Polish “weapon” in the past days, finishing as top scorer in all the matches played by her team.
Spain, on the other hand, recorded their first victory in the group on Sunday, when they won after a hard-fought match against Grecee in five sets. Alhtough Spain are the clear underdog in this matchup, the young Raquel Montoro, who was the best for her team in the past days, can cause problems to the Polish defence.

Match Report
Smarzek on fire for Poland’s fourth straight win in Pool B
Article
23 August 2021
Malwina Smarzek was on fire during Poland’s 3-0 win over Spain in Pool B of the EuroVolley 2021 Women. The result all but ended Spain hopes for qualification to the Round 16 and assured Bulgaria’s and Czech Republic’s progress to the next stage.
● Monday’s match marked Smarzek’s second start of the tournament. And unlike the one against Czech Republic her presence on the court was seen from the get go. She finished the first set with nine winning spikes and a block for a total of 10 points. While Spain managed a paltry 22% kill rate.
● In the second set Polish head coach Jacek Nawrocki put a team of mostly backups. But despite spending most of it out of the court Smarzek still managed 7 points and the team had a whopping 60% kill rate. With suffocating blocks Poland led by as many as 14 points before closing the set 25-15.
● Down two sets Spain showed no signs of resistance. The third set was the most lopsided of the tournament. Martyna Czyrnianska scored as many points as the whole Spanish team. And the 17-point difference is the biggest in all of EuroVolley 2021 Women pools so far.
● Smarzek led all the players in scoring with 22 points. Czyrnianska added 12 while Maria Segura and Raquel Montoro finished as joint top scorers for Spain with 6 each.

Zuzanna Efimienko-Młotkowska"It was an easy match, good preparation for the one against Bulgaria. Actually, we expected it to be a bit more difficult because Spain can play good volleyball. They just had a bad day. The good thing for us is that all our players could get on court today."
Middle blocker, Poland
Lucia Varela Gomez"We could've played better for sure. Obviously, they are a stronger team than us but it is not an excuse. They dominated on all aspects of the game. We gave our best but it was not enough."
